Hello! My name is Pilar, I’m from Cordoba, a beautiful city in the South of Spain. I joined the wonderful team of John G. Plummers in 2009 and I have been working exclusively as a specialist orthodontist since 2005 (more than 14 years of experience in Orthodontic).

I enjoy my job and the most rewarding part is when I finish a treatment and I see the happiness in the face of my patients when they realise it was all worth it.

This is my history: I gained my dental degree in Madrid in 2003, and after working two years as a general dentist in Exeter where I had a wonderful experience in this beautiful city, I started my master to become a specialist in Orthodontic, which was my dream since I was little. To go back to university was not easy but after three very intensive years, I got my Msc in Orthodontic in Madrid 2008 (University of Alfonso X).

At the beginning of my career as an orthodontist I treated most of the cases using fixed braces, commonly known as “Train Tracks” and due to the very high volume of patients (in my whole career I have already treated more than 7000 patients) my technic and knowledge in this area were rapidly increasing getting each day closer to the excellence.

In 2009 I fit my first Invisalign case (the invisible braces). At that time I was quite sceptic about Invisalign since I thought it was very difficult to achieve a really good result in complex cases. When I say “good result” I am not talking about getting straight teeth, which in a lot cases it is very easy, even for a general dentist practitioner without a deep knowledge in Orthodontic, but about getting a stable and functional bite. Been an specialist in Orthodontic my goal is always to achieve this stable and functional bite and not only straighten the teeth (the easiest part of an orthodontic treatment), so instead putting aside this new technique of Invisalign I pushed myself to learn as much as possible about Invisalign to get the maximum control of the technic. And it was then when I decide carry out my master in Invisalign which gave me the confident to treat really complex cases with excellent outcomes.
